Questions & answers
The things people ask.
Everything from “how fast can you attend an emergency?” to “what does NAPIT registered actually mean for me?” — in the order you'd likely ask them.
About J K Electrical
01Who is J K Electrical?
J K Electrical is a small, friendly electrical firm based on Kineton Green Road in Solihull, run by Jez and working with Connor and Lowan. We're NAPIT registered (member #8433), rated 5.0 on Google, and we cover Solihull and Hall Green. The firm trades as JK Electrical Installations Ltd (Companies House 07799769).
Do you cover both homes and businesses?
Mainly homes — the full spectrum of domestic work — but we also take on small commercial fit-outs. Recent examples include the LED lighting for an indoor climbing wall and the chandelier and track lighting for a luxury jewellery shop.
What area do you cover?
We're based in Solihull B92 and cover Solihull and Hall Green, Birmingham, along with the neighbourhoods around us — Olton, Acocks Green, Shirley and Elmdon. One Hall Green customer has used us for seventeen years. If you're not sure whether you're in range, just call and ask.
Booking & on the day
02How do I arrange a job?
Call or text Jez directly on 07763 061719, or email jkelectricalsolihull@gmail.com. You deal with Jez throughout — it's usually the quickest way to sort dates and get a quote.
How quickly can you attend an emergency?
We take emergency call-outs 24/7. When something trips or goes dead, we aim to get to you fast — one customer had us out within the hour, and had the issue fixed at a fair price.
Who actually comes to do the work?
You arrange the job with Jez, and Jez, Connor or Lowan carry it out. As one customer wrote, “the two lads who did the job were polite, tidy and hardworking.” Whoever attends works to the same standard.
Will you turn up when you say you will?
Yes — being prompt is the thing customers mention most in their reviews. We agree a day when we book and turn up as arranged, and for urgent problems we move quickly.
Will you make a mess?
No. “Tidy”, “very clean and tidy” and working “in a quick & tidy manner” come up again and again in our reviews. We clean up properly after every job and treat your home as we'd want ours treated.
Credentials & standards
03What does NAPIT registered mean for me?
NAPIT is a government-approved competent person scheme. Our registration (member #8433) is assessed regularly for ongoing competence. Because we're registered, we can self-certify notifiable domestic work to BS 7671 and Part P of the Building Regulations — so you don't pay a separate building-control inspection fee. You can verify us on the NAPIT register.
What is the Quality Business Awards certificate?
It's an independent, third-party recognition — “Best Electrician Solihull” for a quality rating over 95% in 2026. It reflects consistent customer satisfaction; it isn't a regulatory qualification, and we're clear about the difference.
Will my work be certified?
Yes. Depending on the job you'll receive a minor works certificate or an installation certificate — your written proof the work meets current regulations. As a NAPIT-registered firm we self-certify notifiable domestic work for you.
Services & pricing
04What kinds of jobs do you take on?
Everything from a single light fitting or socket to a complete house rewire — fuse-board upgrades, fault-finding, kitchen electrics, extension wiring, lighting upgrades, chandelier changes, bedroom and living-room work, plus small commercial fit-outs. If it's electrical, ask us.
Can you upgrade my fuse board?
Yes. We replace ageing fuse boards with modern consumer units carrying current-standard RCD protection, and we find and fix the faults behind persistent tripping at the same time. One customer went from constant tripping to “fully working electrics and no more tripping.”
Do you do the electrics for extensions and kitchens?
Yes — a common job for us. We run new circuits before the plastering, wire sockets and appliance circuits, and handle the lighting. For extensions we cover the full electrical side and make sensible recommendations as we go.
How much will it cost?
Every job is different, so we'll give you a clear price before we start — and customers describe our pricing as “reasonable” and “fair.” Send Jez the details for a quote; a photo of the job or fault often helps.
